Morri Rossetti & Franzosi discuss growth, multi-specialization and private equity in Legalcommunity InterViews

Morri Rossetti & Franzosi was recently featured in an interview on Legalcommunity InterViews, discussing the Firm’s recent growth, strategic developments and outlook for the Italian legal and tax market. The conversation involved Davide Attilio Rossetti, name partner and head of the tax department, and Giorgio Maria Di Nicolò, head of strategic growth, who shared insights into the Firm’s expansion strategy and evolving positioning.

“The Italian professional services market is currently experiencing a phase of consolidation, both in the legal and the tax sectors,” Rossetti explains. “For some time now we have been pursuing a strategy of dimensional growth. We have surpassed the threshold of 100 professionals and continue to expand, but we also want to stand out for our professional expertise and high level of specialization.”

One of the Firm’s key strategic initiatives is the “Observatories” project - vertical portals dedicated to each department that combine internal training with curated publications. The model of a knowledge firm is closely linked to the Firm’s philosophy, which it describes as “a multi-specialist boutique, where each department is highly specialized yet works in synergy with the others in order to provide clients with a comprehensive service.”

Expansion is not limited to internal capabilities. Morri Rossetti & Franzosi is also exploring opportunities for external investment, including discussions with private equity funds. “We have seen similar transactions across Europe, not only in the UK but also in Spain, where investors understand that ours is a people business,” observes Di Nicolò. “Our motto is festina lente - make haste slowly. We want to grow, but gradually and while preserving our identity.”

In this context, the Firm does not rule out potential initiatives in the tax area as well. “We are open to targeted investments in the tax practice too, because we believe growth must be strategic and aligned with our philosophy. We look for professionals with a strong client base and the ability to collaborate with other departments, so that we can offer clients truly integrated services,” Rossetti says.

Managing selective growth is therefore a central theme for the Firm, which since 2003 has built a strong and shared identity. “Being clear with those who join the firm is essential,” Di Nicolò emphasizes. “Professional and cultural compatibility comes before anything else. We are not a condominium of independent practices - we want real integration and genuine commitment from everyone.”

With an increasingly structured management organization - featuring roles such as general manager, head of growth, controller and finance administration manager - Morri Rossetti & Franzosi, following its transformation into an STP (Società tra Professionisti), is preparing for further strategic steps. The Firm aims to strengthen its internal practice areas, pursue targeted acquisitions and consolidate its positioning in the Italian legal and tax market. The project is still evolving, but the direction is clear: to grow, innovate, invest in people and maintain the professional excellence that defines the firm.
