Silvia Stabile

Biography

Silvia is a lawyer specialising in intellectual property law and art and cultural heritage law, with over twenty-five years of experience at leading national and international law firms.

Recognised as one of the foremost experts in art law, Silvia heads the Art and Cultural Property Law Department, with a particular focus on advising private clients and family offices in the management of art collections. Her practice also includes copyright law and IP licensing.

With well-established experience in the protection of creativity in all its artistic expressions, particularly in the fields of historical and contemporary design and photography, Silvia advises cultural institutions, foundations, private clients, and leading luxury and fashion companies on the management, protection, and enhancement of art collections, historical archives and corporate collections. She also assists in the development of significant philanthropic projects, as well as in the sponsorship of major restoration initiatives involving historic monuments and works of art forming part of the national cultural heritage.

Silvia is a regular speaker at postgraduate programmes and specialised courses, where she delivers lectures and case studies on the management of family and corporate art collections, including within the Family Office Master Programme at AIFO Academy and at the Osservatorio ABIServizi “Banche per la Cultura”. She is a lecturer in the Executive Programme “Gestione dei patrimoni artistico-culturali e delle collezioni corporate” at Gallerie d’Italia Academy – Intesa Sanpaolo and serves as Scientific Coordinator of the IPSOA Wolters Kluwer Master’s Programme in “Diritto e fiscalità dei mercati internazionali dell’arte”.

She is the author of numerous monographs and scholarly articles on intellectual property and art law and has, over the years, collaborated with leading specialised journals and publications through interviews and in-depth analyses on the legal aspects of art collecting and the art market. She is the editor of the ARTech Law column for Inside Art and curator of the volume “Diritto e fiscalità dei mercati internazionali dell’arte”, published by Wolters Kluwer (2024).
